  • Using a menstrual cup for the first time can be intimidating. That’s why we’re here to help. The following instructions will
help ensure a good first experience and effective use of the product for years to come.

Leia Menstrual Cups offer up to 12 hours of protection from leaks. However, we recommend checking the cup after 6 to 8
hours the first few times you are using it, so that you can understand your acclimation process.
Unlike single-use menstrual care products, Leia has a lifespan of 15 years – so you can safely use it across multiple cycles. However, you should always sterilize the cup between cycles.

  • STERILIZING LEIA

It is important to sterilize your new Leia cup before its first use, and at the end of each menstrual cycle. Additionally, the cup should be washed between individual uses.

To sterilize the cup, simply place the cup in boiling water for 5 to 7 minutes. Take care in removing the cup from the water to avoid injury. After removing the cup from the water, place it on a clean surface and allow it to cool for several minutes to a neutral room temperature. To check the temperature, feel both the inside and outside of the cup. Clean and dry the cup as needed before use.

To wash the cup, simply clean with unscented soap and water. Be sure to wash away any soap residue which may remain.
If you are in a hurry or travel, you can also sterilize your Leia Menstrual Cup using sterilizing pads or by placing it in a microwave for a short duration.

  • 1. Wash your hands thoroughly with unscented soap and position yourself as you normally would on the toilet.

  • 2. Remove the cup from its packaging. If it is the first time you are using the cup after purchase, or if it is the first time you are using at the start of your cycle, sterilize, cool, and clean the cup before use.

  • З. Squeeze the cup using your desired folding method (explained below). Then place the cup inside your body, with
the stem pointing toward your feet. The cup will fully open once inside the body. When inserted, the stem of the cup should be completely inside the vagina. If it is not, remove the cup, trim the stem to the desired length, and reinsert.

WHEN INSERTING THE CUP, YOU CAN USE ONE OF THREE FOLDING METHODS. TRY THEM AND SEE WHICH IS BEST SUITED FOR YOU.

  • 7-Fold
Fold one side of the upper portion of the bell-shaped cup on a diagonal angle (the fold should make the rim into the shape of the number 7). This method allows maximum control of when the cup will open.

  • C-fold (also called U-fold)
Fold the cup in half lengthwise before inserting. This method makes the cup as small as possible during insertion.

  • Punch-down fold
Place your fingers on the rim of the cup, then push down, fold, and hold in place. This method allows easier insertion at a diagonal angle.

  • 4. Use your fingers to open the vagina. Gently insert the Leia Cup into the vagina, and rotate it slightly to create a seal with the vaginal wall. Then, press down with your pelvic muscles; this action will encourage the cup to open within the body and will further aid in creating a seal.

  • Create an opening

  • Insert Gently into the Vagina

  • Rotate the Cup to Form a Seal

  • 1. Wash your hands thoroughly with unscented soap and position yourself on the toilet as you would for inserting a tampon.

  • 2. Using your thumb and index finger, reach within the vaginal opening to locate the cup’s stem.

  • 3. Use your pelvic muscles to lower the cup so that you can easily reach it.

  • 4. After locating the stem, pinch the cup to release the seal with the vaginal wall. You can use the grip rings on the stem to establish a firm grasp. Then, pull directly on the base of the cup to remove it.

  • Note: We do not suggest using the stem to remove the cup, as doing so can break the stem or potentially cause pain. We additionally suggest not to pinch the stem with your fingernails, as this can also cause damage. Instead, use the stem to locate the cup, the rings to secure a grasp, and then pull on the cup itself.

  • 5. Once the cup is removed, wash your hands thoroughly with unscented soap. Empty the cup into the toilet, and follow the insertion instructions to re-insert if needed.
